MTFD is the second busiest department in Ingham County, responding to an average of 5,000 emergencies annually. Each MTFD member is committed to serving the community with excellence through the delivery of outstanding customer service. These teams respond to high-risk, low-frequency incidents involving confined spaces, trenches, bodies of water, high/low angle rescues, chemical/gas releases and structural collapses. The MTFD is an active member of the Metro-Lansing Technical Rescue and Hazardous Materials Teams. The department also provides fire prevention, code enforcement, plan review and fire safety related programming. Three dual-paramedic staffed advanced life support ambulances deliver emergency medical care at the highest pre-hospital level. Three stations are strategically located to provide timely responses to residents and visitors alike.
